Последнее время читаю Practical Common Lisp. А тут заказчик, все-таки, попросил отображать элементы управления на страницах веб-интерфейса в соответствии с правами доступа к бэкенду. Ну и обрабатывать соответственно. И, конечно, права доступа назначаются на поля в бэкенде независимо, и соответствие между элементами управления и полями не один-к-одному.
И что-то мне мой дизайн начинает напоминать...

Купили EOS 400D - сломался пленочный сканер Nikon Coolscan LS-2000. Стиральная машина, похоже, тоже решила на всякий случай сломаться. Правильно: не дай бог уменьшить ж**у, лучше на всякий случай увеличить.

Unfortunately, the guy who wrote the article I've written about yesterday, turned out to be a science troll. It seems he did nothing to make his ideas a reality. And I've found evidence of him demonstrating very unpleasant behavior on some science newsgroups.
However, that article has made me curious of the reactive software paradigm. And I will continue my research on that matter. If I happen to find some good articles or real life applications you will now it :)
I'm sorry if someone was confused by my enthusiasm.

I found it in my "literature" directory. I can't remember where I originally have found it. May be it was some of you, my friends, who gave me the link. Yet I haven't managed to read it until today's evening.
This evening I was hiding from my mother's-in-law guests in her room, and being without an Internet connection, I was looking for something interesting to read on my laptop. There it was:

Why Software Is Bad and What We Can Do to Fix It
To some of you it may seem obvious, but to me (given my lack of CS and/or electronics engineering degree) it was an eye opener (this implies I agree with the author). Although, something tells me that not every university teaches such ideas.
As a plus it is written very well, with attention appetizers placed just at the right places, and it comes down smoothly.
And as for the subject, the idea is so simple, I'm almost slapping my forehead, but I'm not, because I don't think I would come to such conclusions all by myself :)
UPDATE: Well, having finally read it through, I'd admit that mentioning implementation details and throwing in some (fair) marketing at the end, did spoil the impression a bit. But only a tiny bit :)
UPDATE 2: It is unfortunate, but after some researching I've come to a conclusion that the author is simply a science troll :(. Although the ideas behind his writing are mostly right, it seems he has done nothing to make them a reality.

Нашей почти семейной конторе нужен системный администратор вместо меня и вместо того парня который был год вместо меня (теперь он полностью в инженера превратился и не успевает). Если full-time, то это скорее работа для студента-вечерника. Зарплата не будет высокой (хоть можно и попробовать договориться), но будет простор и время для экспериментов.

Выбрал я себе KVM-переключатель D-Link KVM-221. Купил. Включаю - не работает работает, но картинка противная, особенно со второй машины - все размытое и цвета расслаиваются. Впрочем, и на первой машине работать невозможно. Ну, думаю, наверное у меня тут помехи такие сильные/кабели длинные. Пошел, сдал.
Решил попробовать что-нибудь другое - взял ATEN CS62U за ровно те же деньги, с тем же функционалом, разве что выглядит более "игрушечно". Разница в картинке разительна. Т.е. практически нет искажений. Звук, правда, проходя через него лишается басов начисто. Однако на D-Link'е я вообще до проверки звука не дошел.
D-Link в очередной раз подтвердил лидерство в качестве. С обратного конца.

Открыл для себя MIDI в Linux :)
Протащился от сочетания vkeybd, snd-virmidi, aconnect, midish, timidity :)
- vkeybd
- виртуальная клавиатура
- snd-virmidi
- модуль ядра имитирующий карточку с четырьмя MIDI-интерфейсами (нужно для привередливых программ типа midish)
- aconnect
- коннектор MIDI-портов (patch bay)
- midish
- консольный MIDI-секвенсер a-la shell, с процедурами, циклами, выражениями. Скриптуемый, может управляться через пайп :)
- timidity
- программный синтезатор с кучей возможностей и интерфейсов
Блин, и все это OpenSource :)
